Artist Statement
I am an Environmental Artist, photographer and artist working in the land, responding to sites around the world through photograph and printmaking, video, site specific installation, intervention, ephemeral sculpture, drawing, sound, web, permanent site specific sculpture.
I am primarily concerned with the natural environment. I explores the properties of different materials, engaging with mass, balance, space and forms as they arises. I questions what is the natural, the organic and what was the constructed and introduced the key environmentalist idea of bringing nature back into the urban environment.
I find inspiration in all aspects of visual culture. Influenced by films, ancient myths and modern art. My interest in fashion, politics, theology, psychology and architecture advocate the subvertion of illusion. I photograph places and environments that I either have a strong association with, or I may have only encountered once in my lifetime.
I am available for research on visual representation, art and media consultancy and advise on all aspects of creative development, strategy, production, placement and media buying.

Since reporting from 1987, in Central America, Bernat have continued to successfully pursue the study of and career in photography and in filmmaking. She has professional experiences in creative and technical operations, in the art, the educational and broadcast industry.
She was honoured as the travel photographer of the year in 2002 and by the Guardian, in Society as a winner of Media Award 2000. In 2003, Bernat received an award from Alexander Mc Queen and Nick Knight after entering the prestigious Independent American Express Fashion Photography Competition. Bruce Surtees, the Director of Photography who worked with the like of Whoopi Goldberg, commented of my work as ‘absolutely fabulous’.
Her films were showed at the ICA, Brighton film festival, Leeds International film festival, Athens Technopolis Video Art Festival and in the Cinematheque of Tangers, in Marrocco.
