Bettina Salomon

Artist Statement

The images shown are an emotional diary of the feelings and bodily changes of my first pregnancy. Left alone by the partner to cope with the new circumstances. I am feeling lost and drowned in illusions and disbelief. Next to it, feeling the wonders of having a new life growing inside myself and wanting to nurture it. Wanting to change but feeling helpless and needy. A struggle deep down inside. Wanting to give up life. Sharing my body but also having to grow in spirit to simply deal and response to what I have created. A letting go of dreams and allowing the presence to just be what it is. My new Real-ity. My body and heart being a place of prayer. The camera always there to witness intimate emotions and subconscious beliefs, supporting me to become an observer of myself. Realising myself through viewing my images, my life and my truth. This process is helping me to come to a point of understanding and relief.
